U-16 B's Maintain Unbeaten Start   04/11/2014

Mervue B 4-3 Ramblers (Scorers: Jayden O’ Malley (2), Adam Healy, Daniel Healy)

Mervue Utd's U-16 B team maintained their unbeaten record to stay top of the table against an excellent Ramblers side who came in to the match with a 100 per cent record. Ramblers made the better start putting Mervue under pressure from the start and opened the scoring after the home side lost possession too easily.

Mervue slowly started to get on top and Alex Schmidt came close after a good Jayden O’ Malley pass. Dems Henok was then unlucky with another shot. Mervue also were unlucky from three Adam Healy set pieces with Daniel Healy going close. Mervue eventually equalised when another excellent free from Adam Healy saw Daniel Healy head in to the top corner.

Mervue came under increasing pressure as Ramblers passed the ball to excellent effect with their number nine causing great problems. Mervue goalie Dylan Gallagher was in excellent form making at least five outstanding saves in the first half. Mervue settled more in the game and some outstanding work from Daniel Corbett, Aaron Connelly, Adam Healy and Dems Henok saw Adam Healy slot in to the bottom corner to give Mervue an undeserved 2-1 lead.

Mervue started the second half poorly and keeper Dylan Gallagher made another great save. Mervue’s defending improved with William Ikemna-Nwosa winning some great ball in midfield and Daniel Healy, Jordan Devery and Padraig Cooney defending well Mervue started to dominate the game and put the Ramblers defence under pressure.

A great dribble by Dems Henok saw him pass the ball to Adam Connolly who hit a great cross for Jayden O’Malley to side foot home for 3-1. This was followed five minutes later with a fourth goal after good passing from Padraig  Cooney and Patrick Oyelola saw another excellent Adam Connolly delivery saw an excellent finish in to the top corner from Jayden O'Malley. Mervue could have increased the lead with Nathan Unorka, Adam Connolly and Adam Healy all going close.

The home side then eased up and keeper Dylan Gallagher made two more outstanding saves. A rather harsh penalty saw Ramblers score a second with ten minutes to go but some good interceptions from James Cahill and Bryan Healy saw Mervue hold out till the last minute when Ramblers scored a soft third goal. Mervue have played better this season but a great battling display and some good finishing gave them all three points against a very good Ramblers side.
