MERVUE UNITED NEWSLETTER - April 2015

Welcome to Edition 2 of our new monthly newsletter.

Every month we hope to give you a feel for what’s going on in Mervue United.

League of Ireland Airtricity U-19 League

Our U-19 team ended their  league campaign in the last month, some highlights from the season were the Irish Trials for a number of players and Yousef Mahdy finishing as top goal scorer.

Roots Academy

Every Friday evening we cater for up to 250 girls and boys from 5 years of age up to U-10 boys and Under 14 girls. These players have recently played friendlies and performed brilliantly over the last number of weeks, more game will be organised.

Underage Teams

All of our Underage Teams are performing very well in their leagues and representing the club across Galway with Mervue United and also on Galway Representative teams. U-14's retained the Coley Smyth Premier Division last week following a 3-0 win over Oughterard FC.

SFAI Irish Cup

This Saturday our Under 14 team will play their SFAI Cup Semi Final against Belvedere FC in Mervue at 2 pm.This is a huge game for Coley Kelly and Pa Connell’s team and we wish all the players the best of luck and we look forward to welcoming Belvedere to Fahy's Field. Come and support the lads on Saturday. This team had a very enjoyable trip to Leeds Utd last week in preparation for this game. Big thank to all who helped organise this wonderful trip to Leeds, Doncaster and York.

Thanks also to Peter Curran Electrical and Curley Interiors for their kind sponsorship towards the trip and the U-14's gear for both the trip and the SFAI Semi-final game and Connacht Cup Final in May.

Connacht Cup

Our Under U12 and U14 teams will play in the Connacht Cup Finals in Sligo on Saturday 2nd of May.This promises to be another great day in the history of Mervue Utd.Games will take place in Strand Celtic's ground, the club will look to put on a supporters bus if there is enough interest. Our Junior A team are playing the quarter final of Connacht Junior Cup against Erris Utd on Sunday 26th April in Mervue at 2 pm.

Thanks to all Parents

As we near the end of the season and we look back on all the teams we’ve hosted in Irish Cups and Connacht Cups the hospitality extended to all these teams has been fantastic, this is down mainly to all the parents who have volunteered to make tea/coffee,sandwiches and provide treats for all kids. Everyone in club appreciates this greatly and thank you so much to all parents and friends of Mervue United.

Club Lotto

The club lotto is our weekly fundraising initiative, the current jackpot stands at €6,650. You can play our lotto on line at www.locallotto.ie and your continued support with our lotto is very much appreciated.

Other Club News

Mervue United will be running a 7-A-Side league on our All-Weather every Saturday, if you are interested contact Ger in the club @ 087-9715148.

Please be respectful of our neighbour's along Quinn Place when looking for parking, please use Creche or Church car park if club carpark is full. Creche carpark is available only after 6 pm each weekday, please adhere to this as clamping is in place at the facility.
