All Four Club Sides Advance in SFAI Cups   22/02/2016

SFAI Cup Games 
It was a great weekend for the club with all four sides in Irish cup action advancing to the quarter finals of their SFAI Cup competitions after excellent last sixteen wins on Saturday and Sunday.

U13 SFAI Cup 
Fairview Rangers 2-3 Mervue United
U13's advanced to the quarter final of the SFAI cup after two cracking first half strikes from Gary Higgins and a second half goal from Adam White secured an excellent win in Limerick on Saturday. Goalkeeper James Egan also saved a second half penalty, while Eric Connolly's side also had a perfectly good Tom Kidd goal ruled out in the first half.


U14 SFAI Cup 
Mervue United 6-1 Tullamore Town
The club's U14's advanced to the quarter finals with a comfortable 6-1 win over Tullamore Town at Fahy's Field on Sunday afternoon. Man of the match Charlie Concannon hit four opening half goals with some excellent finishing and he also set up Cathal Yaxley for a fifth as the home side led 5-1 at the interval. Concannon also set up Gareth Molloy as he added a sixth and the only goal of the second half as he finished the strikers cross to the net.


U15 SFAI Cup 
Mervue United 3-2 Greenwood FC
The club's U15's advanced to the quarter finals of SFAI Cup also on a 3-2 scoreline after they defeated Cork side, Greenwood FC, at Fahy's Field on Saturday afternoon. Colin Kelly had the home side ahead at the break but the visitors levelled matters just after the break for 1-1. Top scorer Colin Kelly restored the home sides lead from the penalty spot before Conor Shaughnessy added a third vital goal that was enough to see them into the last eight.

U16 SFAI Cup 
Mervue United 5-1 Tramore AFC
The U16's advanced to the quarter finals following a 5-1 win over Waterford League side Tramore at Fahy's Field on Sunday morning. Goals from Wilson Waweru, Aaron Connolly and Conor Higgins had them 3-0 up at the break before the visitors pulled a goal back just after half time. But Aaron Connolly added his second of the game and Ronan Manning with an excellent individual goal ensured they progressed to the last eight.
