Mervue Utd B 3-1 Tuam Celtic (U-16 Galway FA Cup)

Mervue Utd's U-16 B team bounced back from their last game with an excellent win over championship side Tuam Celtic in the Galway FA Cup last Sunday afternoon at O'Sullivan Park. 

Mervue despite playing against a strong wind started brilliantly with Patrick Oyelola beating three players with a blistering run which produced a great save from the Tuam keeper. Then good work by Padraig Cooney and Alex Schmidt saw Patrick Oyelola go straight through again and chip the keeper only for it to go narrowly wide. 

Mervue were passing the ball around very well and another great move involving Dems Henok, Daniel Corbett and Adam Healy saw Jayden O’Malley bring out another outstanding save from the Tuam keeper. 

Mervue keeper Dylan Gallagher made a great save as Tuam threatened on the break. After another great overlapping run from Daniel Corbett saw Mervue win a corner. Adam Healy delivered an excellent ball in to the area which saw his cousin Daniel Healy finish superbly with a header in to the top corner for 1-0. 

Mervue continued to dominate possession and two excellent one twos between Alex Schmidt and Patrick Oyelolasaw Patrick bring another great save from the keeper.

Then another move involving Jordan Devery, William Ikemna-Nwosa and Patrick Oyelola saw Alex Schmidt cross for Jayden O’Malley to bring another good save from the keeper but Dems Henok was on hand to put in the rebound for 2-0. 

Mervue scored their third shortly afterwards when more good work up the right from Padraig Cooney and Patrick Oyelola saw Alex Schmidt produce another great cross for Jayden O'Malley to side foot home. Dems Henok then had an excellent shot in to the bottom corner which produced another good save from the keeper. Further efforts from Adam Healy and William Ikemna-Nwosa brought good saves from the keeper.

Tuam started the second half well as Mervue took their foot off the pedal but the Mervue defence held strong and was well marshalled by keeper Dylan Gallagher and defenders Jordan Devery and Daniel Healy. 

Mervue continue to threaten on the break and a fine shot by Adam Connolly went narrowly wide. Patrick Oyelola was unlucky not to get his head to another excellent Adam Healy corner. Tuam scored with 10 mins left but with Bryan Healy and James Cahill producing some excellent tackles they were reduced to long range efforts. A superb pass from Jayden O'Malley saw the keeper make a great save fro Aaron Conneely, Then Nathan Unorka and Mark Schmidt combined and crossed for Aaron to narrowly miss. Some outstanding tackles and headed clearances from Rhys Hopcroft held Tuam at bay in the last five minutes.  A great win with some excellent football especially in the first half.
